For decades, Fort Wayne has had a footprint on boys volleyball in Indiana. Long before the sport became sanctioned by the IHSAA, the region established itself as a leader in developing athletes, growing participation, and building a culture that embraced the game. From successful high school teams in the early 2000s and the continued impact of Purdue Fort Wayne, Indiana Tech, and Trine on the collegiate stage, Fort Wayne has played a significant role in shaping the growth of boys volleyball throughout the state,
As boys volleyball continues to be one of the fastest-growing sports in the country, Summit Volleyball is excited to officially launch its boys program and provide new opportunities for athletes across Northeast Indiana.
Through Summit Volleyball's partnership with The Academy Volleyball Club in Indianapolis, athletes and families will benefit from expanded resources designed to elevate the experience and development of every player. These resources include enhanced tournament scheduling, access to proven operational and leadership support, expanded recruiting and collegiate connections, and collaboration with one of the nation's premier boy's volleyball organizations. Together, Summit and The Academy will work to provide athletes with opportunities that help them grow both on and off the court while connecting them to successful programs and events throughout the country.
"Boys Volleyball has a long, proud history in Fort Wayne from the success of Purdue Fort Wayne, Olympic rostered members, and the historic success at the high school level prior to the IHSAA's involvement," said Andrew Fuller, Boys Program Director for The Academy Volleyball Club. "Fort Wayne is the next hotbed in Indiana and will continue to develop athletes that will make great impacts in the sport."
Leading the new boys program will be Tony Price, who has been a valued member of the Summit Volleyball staff for the past several years. Price brings extensive playing and coaching experience to the role, including his background with the Purdue Fort Wayne volleyball program and his deep connections throughout the Fort Wayne volleyball community.
"Tony Price has a love for the area of Fort Wayne and, most importantly, for the sport of volleyball," Fuller said. "His pedigree of success on the court as both a player and coach will be a tremendous resource for all athletes who choose to be a part of this program."
With a strong foundation already in place, Summit Volleyball is committed to building a premier boys volleyball experience that honors Fort Wayne's rich tradition while helping shape the next generation of athletes in Northeast Indiana.
